We're planning on heading for the CLA Game Fair at Belvoiur Castle on the 20th thru 22nd.

Does anyone know what the camp site conditions are like at present?

Can't see the point of pulling the van all that way if the site is water logged.

Anyone else planning on going?

Going, but not camping as relatively local. Not much use I'm afraid! Would guess that conditions are currently 'soggy' so depends on how much more rain in the interim.......I would keep watching the website for updates/info.

We have been checking the web site regularly as well as keeping an eye on the long range weather forecasts.

I was hoping that someone might be local enough to have a squint at the on site conditions between now and the date. As we need to decide on whether to get the van ready or not.

I wouldn't think that there are many places in the country that aren't sodden at the moment... Its good draining land around there, so depends what happens in the next week or so really..

Too many unhappy memories of sodden sleeping bags and miserable wet mornings for me to ever contemplate camping.

Long range weather forecasts has rain for wednesday, dry thursday and friday, rain all day saturday and dry sunday.

Decision will be left as late as possible me thinks.

The place I work for helps organising loads of events and loads have been cancelled. We mainly do Silverstone and county shows, CLA isnt looking great at the moment but nothing will happen until Monday for a decision i shouldnt have thought. Great Yorkshire was cancelled last minute so everything stuck up there at the moment!

Wouldnt rush to get down there as its not looking promising!

Secretly hoping its cancelled though so I dont have to work on the Saturday :p

Thru the wonders of modern business networking i have managed to discuss current conditions with a contact who it turnsout works on a neighbouring estate.

Things are decidely soft. There has been some very heavy localise rainfall over the last 36-48hours. My contacts considered opion is it would take at least 7 days of dry weather to produce decent ground conditions for vehicles. Which the weather forecast say sn't going to happen.

So we have decided to leave the van in the yard and risk a run down on the day. With the cash saved to wave under the noses of the traders with the intention of dragging a bargain or 3 out of them. They must be hurting thru lost business by now and the sight of a fist full of tenners might just work the magic I'm hoping for.

Fingers crossed .

Reports on twitter and the CLA FB page that it's been cancelled :( Don't know how true that is though...

They closed the gates this morning and stopped the contractors entering the site due to the waterlooged conditions.

"Organisers have just announced that the event, due to take place at Belvoir Castle from Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 22, will not go ahead because the site is waterlogged.

CLA Director General Helen Woolley said: “I am extremely sad to say the heavy rain in the run-up to this year’s CLA Game Fair has left us with no choice but to take the heartbreaking decision to cancel the show. It is a devastating blow for the CLA team, contractors, exhibitors and the hoards of visitors and guests who make the CLA Game Fair the world’s greatest country show."
