Clampdown

Unfortunately this sort of thing could spread. I live in Somerset near a fantastic huge country park and there has been talk of banning dog walkers because of the amount of dog waste, although there are dog loos dotted all over the place, and because every year 3 or 4 sheep have been mauled by loose dogs. As usual the minority spoil it for the majority.

Well, at least someone had the foresight to build dog only parks.Would have been awfull to completly lose places to walk dogs, nightmare ot find a green spot in Camden as it is.

I just find it amazing and also deeply sad that as a nation we put up with this sort of thing.

Well, TBH I dont see (some) of ths as a bad thing. The dog lover in me is outraged by stupid restrictions, but the mum is happy my toddler wont have to play in dog poo when we take him to the park.
Small minoraty spoiling it for everyone of course, I doubt anyone on here would even think about not poo picking while out walking their dogs but the few that do are a menace.

Completly agree it is sad we just seem to sit back and acept whatever we are told by on high though.

"wont have to play in dog poo when we take him to the park."

Why not have a law against people not clearing up their dogs mess?

Don't tell me, there is one but people ignore it.

Limiting the number of dogs one person can accompany and criminalising people for not having their dogs on a lead don't have anything to do with keeping dog mess out of public spaces.

It seems to me that because they can't enforce one law they are just making more. Ordinary people are made to suffer because of some irresponsible dog owners.

Sadly all true. But news here was reporting it as dogs being banned form certain areas(unless I have misheard it over R's tantrum

) and since some dog owners won't pick up after themselves that seems the only option left.Keepng them on leads is (I thnk) to prevent the "I diddnt know my dog had gone" excuse, if it's on a lead you will see it.
I think if you have a dog and walk it, you pick up its poo, end of story but plenty wont pick it up unless someone who can give them a fine is standing next to them.Would cost a fortune to have a couple of wardens per park to enforce current laws. What else are we ment to do?

Although I do think limiting the number of dogs is completly stupid, you could have a dozen giant breed dogs perfectly under controll and not a problem to anyone or one toy dog that is a menace, cant see how that part will do anyone any good.

ETS, yes of course it is the minority spoiling it for the rest of us who are responsable, thats normally the case.

mmm I see it slightly differently. It's the authorities spoiling it for all of us because they are incapable of dealing with the minority.

Mind you I live in Devon, have four dogs, never put them on the lead and never clean up after them so who am I to complain.

I always clean up after my dogs. I hate the fact that the miniority spoil it for the rest. In a built up area I walk the Beast on a lead, would never take Tina to a built up area. If we are on beach, forest etc they are always off the lead.

I hope it doesn't come into play over here
