I have just finished an experiment which was put to me by a Swedish business partner of mine.( But will continue due to positive "results")

I started to play low volume classic FM to my horses/ponies whilst stabled throughout November/December.
The "results" were, shall I say, eye-opening.

Of the Equines owned, one who was/is/was an habitual box-walker, has, IMO, become less stressed, and I'm definitely taking less bedding out of his box.
Others who tend to be worryers, and therefore not eat all their hay/haylege, have, after 3 weeks of "listening", tended to "eat-up", to the point that he now receives more forage, therefore has stopped losing condition.
I've even managed to get a stressy mare off a chemical calmer over the last 10 days!

I find this very fascinating.
Something so simple as calming music to help stabled animals.
Obviously it may not be possible in large yards but it seems to be working at mine.

Anyone else tried "alternatives" to the norm?

So nobody then..............?

It quite common to play music in stables...not just when you're there. I've known lots of people do it, leaving music/radio playing for the horses.

I used to play classical music to my babies ....... I haven't done it for my horse, but I can well imagine that it is very beneficial. Wasn't there a study done with milk yields from cows who were subjected to different types of music, and they did better with classical? And a study on brain waves being affected by Mozart ..........
I play Classic FM a lot in my car.

My brain definitely operates better when I listen to classical music, so it's not surprising you discovered it positively affects horses too.

At my current yard there is always a radio on, throughout the day (even when the yard is officially 'closed' and there is nobody around, i.e. lunch break)
