I have just finished an experiment which was put to me by a Swedish business partner of mine.( But will continue due to positive "results")
I started to play low volume classic FM to my horses/ponies whilst stabled throughout November/December.
The "results" were, shall I say, eye-opening.
Of the Equines owned, one who was/is/was an habitual box-walker, has, IMO, become less stressed, and I'm definitely taking less bedding out of his box.
Others who tend to be worryers, and therefore not eat all their hay/haylege, have, after 3 weeks of "listening", tended to "eat-up", to the point that he now receives more forage, therefore has stopped losing condition.
I've even managed to get a stressy mare off a chemical calmer over the last 10 days!
I find this very fascinating.
Something so simple as calming music to help stabled animals.
Obviously it may not be possible in large yards but it seems to be working at mine.
Anyone else tried "alternatives" to the norm?
