clean hair loss on his face?

My pony has just started going out at night and on the second day when i brought his in, he had a patch on the side of his face with no hair!? he didn't seem to find it painful at all, but im a bit concerned, so do any of you have any idea if something could of caused it? he's been itching more in his stable to. i've popped a picture of it bellow x many thanks, Maddiehair loss small file.jpg

It's just a scrape. I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe take a walk round the field to see if you cant find what he did it on, could easily have just been having a scratch on a fence post though.

My horse rubs patches of hair off of his face every spring. The pony I ride does this too. It looks quite similar. I think that they both have some sort of allergy (my horse has other allergies anyway) or there is some grass or plant, maybe nettles, they they come into contract with and this happens as a result. Usually my horse's hair grows back and he goes the rest of the summer without an issue. It is always during this initial time when he goes on the field.

Could also be insect related as mine also has reactions to tick bites that are itchy and result in hair loss. If it's just this one patch, I wouldn't worry though.
