I have several Aurigan bits which are all over a year old. I did buy a tube of Diamond Paste to remove the tarnish and make them shine which worked fairly well (with a lot of elbow grease!) but cost about £16 for a small tube.

Does anyone know any cheaper alternatives? I use Brasso on the stirrup irons and spurs but can't really use it on the bits becasue it's toxic!

Coke brings copper coins up like new after soaking so it certainly should clean up a bit.

Phosphoric acid in coke that does the trick - also removes limescale!

Sadly not good for your teeth so my litre a day diet coke habit is terrible.....
