I know I sound like an idiot asking this but do you use saddle soap or boot polish? Up until now I've mostly been a happy hacker so I just wear yard boots but I'm starting to get out more so now have some nice long leather boots. Last time I cleaned them I did it with saddle soap but they looked really dull when I'd finished. Should I be using boot polish? I didn't because I thought it might mark Daisy.

I use saddle soap, as i have vivid memories of turning up for riding lessons looking ridiculous in boots you could see your reflection in, thanks to my mum's overzealous polishing! never again!

Re polishing your leather boots - boot polish will waterproof the leather. Polish on and polish off. Spit and rub really well with a cloth and get a good shine so that you can see your face and you will look stunning. If they are hunting boots try boning them.

Boning is done with a dried shin bone from an animal. It should be used on reversed hide to flatten and make the leather shine. It takes out scratches caused by brambles etc. Its not suitable to use on the right side of leather thats when you should use spit and polish. Hope that helps.
