Cleaning rug linings

I have a couple of medium rugs that were cleaned in the spring but are beginning to get dirty/greasy inside. Is there any way I can clean the inside lining without having to pressure wash it? It's mainly around the wither/neck area to stop her mane rubbing.
Any suggestions welcome

Try rubbing Vanish on it and leaving it for a short time, then wet sponge it off
if the grease is really persistant use fairy liquid to break it down, then wet sponge or soak off.
