Cleaning smelly riding hat

Is there a brilliant way to clean the inside of your riding hat? Coz mines gotten smelly over time and only bought a year ago.
Just want to give it a damn good clean, but not sure it I can do any harm getting it wet and using any products? Any tips, products or advice guys?

I usually find bicarbonate of soda is good for absorbing smells,although I haven't tried it on a hat. Just put some powder in the hat and leave it overnight, and then brush it well. It works for smelly trainers any way.

Charles Owen do a hat cleaner and hat deodorizer. I use them and they are brill.

yep Febreeze works really well and is a lot cheap then the CO stuff
