Cleaning Stables...

My stables have been up for 10 years now and honest looking a little bit well filthy, there are lots of cobwebs on the ceilings, old bits of bird nests onthe lights and honest lots and lots of dust.

Does anyone know if there are any contractors that would come with maybe an industrial hoover and clear them out?

I tried with my little dyson but one stable was hard enough!

Sorry if a strange question....
 
The are wooden stables with fully fitted rubber matting - bit worried about the Water under the mats etc as all the mats are cut professionally so if i took them out i dont think i would get them in again....

Providing you put the mats back in in the right order you shouldn't have a problem.

I'd get some step ladders and a brush (and don't forget your face mask).
 
Get a step ladder and a good hard stiff brush then follow that up with a softer brush to get the rest of the dust off where it had settled. Wear a hat (nothing worse than cobwebs in your hair!) and make sure spiders can't get up your sleeve.

Also, please make sure no birds are actually nesting in there as you shouldn't disturb them if they are rearing a brood.

We use an industrial vacuum on the cob webs - they can be hired (can't remember where we bought ours from) means you don't get the electrics or other bits you don't want wet!
 
I just brush them out every autumn with a yard brush. I get covered, but its not that hard! Its one of my annual jobs before they come in - along with creosoting and washing windows.

As for jet washing, and rubber mats, I always swill water under my mats - if the wee can drain out so can the water... I think its good to swill them out regularly.
 
What ever you do don't steam clean or power wash any ply wood it opens the Grain and damages the glue I know I did it not good ,attack with a brush.
 
Thank you everyone - yes they are wooden stables and i have a whole yard thet needs doing i have found a local hire merchants so think i will hire an industrial vacum and set myself a week of cleaning!
