I have some Tredstep suede chaps that need a good clean. They got soaked and I left them in the airing cupboard and now they're like cardboard! All dirty too. What's the best way to clean them?

Suede brush will clan off the dirt, but not sure what you can do about them being hard, there must be a leather feed you can use on suede....surely

Just wearing them will supple them up.

In future....

allow them to dry naturaly, no airing cuboards or Agas etc.

Get a special brush with tiny soft wire bristles. They sell them at shoe shops, cobblers and supermarkets etc.

Wait till theyy are dry and then brush the dirt off... gently.

Then get some scotchgaurd and aply it. This will make them water and dirt resistant. I am sure there are other brands of suede protector. You get that from shoe shops etc too, but make sure it is specialy for suede or you will wreck the chaps.

Brush all the mud off with a stiff brush, stick em in the washing machine, dry them off away from heat (radiators, airing cupboards etc) and then just bend/roll/ fold them and then wear then to make them supple again
