Does anybody know if there is anywhere specific to look for a CB, or part bred? Does anybody know of any reputable breeders? I love the breed and am thinking of trying to find one for next horse....

The Cleveland bay website has a list of registered breeders, from memory they also have contact details. Good luck they are a great breed :)

Our breeders and some for sale go on here.. There are also some on horsemart including a couple my friend bred..

Penrhyn and Tregoyd are good places to start.. Jean Morgan also breeds some fine horses..

Best place to start is definitely on our website.. What are you after?

Thanks for the replies, just had a quick look at Horsemart, lovely 3yr old on there! :-)

Ideally looking for something max 16.1/2, gelding, 4/5yrs old would be ideal......

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the looks of the Tregoyd CB's - VERY fine looking animals and DEFINATELY worth travelling for I think... I just love the relationship the breeders have with their horses - just lovely!

I like the whippletree ones too. Jazz looks lovely - I've had my eyes on her the last few years...:)

Speculator looks a lovely sort too :)

I would, as with any horse purchase, shop around well. Take your time- they don't sell that quick being such big horses...

Where are you located OP?

If it is George you're looking at - he's caught my eye a couple of times too - looks very nice :) but be warned - he will make about 17hh + when he finishes up!! ;)

It is George, he is super but you are right, think he will finish up too big for me really!

This is another reason I am thinking about a part bred, as the majority of CB's are big (correct me if I am wrong! :-) ), just love the attitude of the CB.... well the ones I have had to do with anyway!!

They do tend to be quite big but there are some smaller ones around...

Knaresbrough Speculator is only 16hh though... and there is a sweet looking 7 year old mare at 16.2hh... (she will have pretty much finished growing) she is unbacked but that shouldn't be a problem to sort! ;) both on CB Website.

Both worth a look I'd say... :)

Mmmm, Jazz, fancy sharing her? Lol :)

Love my Whippletree boys.. My other two Clevelands are Southvalley horses.. All very nice horses..

You can get the Chapman type if you look thoroughly enough!

Lindon Stud is selling off all of theirs.. Might be worth a look.. Or asking on the Southern Cleveland Bay Horse Club website..

I have two part bred CBs and would have another (or even a pure bred) like a shot. But I'm old and cowardly and a good youngster would be wasted on me, plus I don't bounce like I used to. I'd like an older CB/CBX and occasionally trawl the Internet looking for likely candidates. Not much on offer down south, though.

No worries CBFan.. She eats grass and haylage and I keep them at home so no livery :)

Good luck OP on your search x
