ok so we did the intro 80cm intro its a nice warm up class for the both of us and she kept slipping in the warm up as its grass been raining and ebs dont wear studs so we took it slow but had a nice rythem and come 4th

then we did the 90cm as there was no british novice and it was going so well but as 12 was on a angle i took it steady around the corner as it was slipping and then messed the rest up and the last one came down but great day mega proud of thee horse
lots of extra dinner and a day off i think xD
also still in the snaffle of the 3 ring gag

sorry i have re -posted it but no one was looking at it soo put it somewere else lol :)
 
Sounds like you're doing well! I'd invest in some stud holes though if you're planning on doing a lot on grass, the ground seems to be either baked solid or slippy at the moment :S

Won't be long until you're doing great, and it will be worth the time and effort when you're winning classes knowing your horse doesn't do it all for you. Always seems that bit more satifying that way :)

I would, IMO it's not worth risking loosing their confidence if they slip around, or possible strains on grass. You've got a couple of shoing opportunities before indoor starts so it can't hurt I guess :)
 
Yes, if she isn't shod behind then no studs there :) ask your farrier when next due, he should be able to advise and he won't need telling before hand if you would like stud holes :)

If you do, remember to plug them as soon as they're done, pack them with cotton wool using some vaseline or better still, you can get screw in "blanks" that use an alan key, very handy :)
 
Oh as for back shoes, it may well help to keep her balanced even if you only use blanks in them.
Is she only shod on front for health reasons or is it just because that's all she needs? Only asking as if there is a problem with her back feet it would be best to get advice from farrier. (friend had a horse who had a weakness in his back hooves and farrier couldn't get the shoe to stay)
 
Just to add... I only use front shoes this year as iv not been doing a lot of showing but when its a bit slippy on grass i do miss my horses back shoes lol. Will have them next year as you get a lot more drip on grass than just bare feet :)
