Clicking fetlock when picking feet out?

Just a quick question. When I pick out my lad's back feet, sometimes they seem to lock up, then make a rather loud clicking noise? Front ones don't do it, and it's only on occasion. Doesn't seem to cause him any pain, but he's only 4? Should I be concerned, or is this normal?

My pony's forelegs are similar with the cracking- I've been told it's only like our fingers cracking. Try putting a capful of sunflower oil in his feed, it seemed to work for me

my horses does this too one more so than the other. it seems to bother me much more than her. she is only 6 havent look in to why as doesn't bother her.

a cracking joint means a mobile joint, it is releasing any pressure that has built up. On the one hand that is a good sign- as always see an equine osteopath regularly, but it's not pain so it's not an emergency!

Mmmm, my farrier noted that my boy does not like his hind feet lifted too much, and I notice that they feel clicky, if you know what I mean, his general rear conformation is only 4 out of ten.
