Hi please can anyone help me, i have a beautiful fell on LWVTB, he is 4 years old and i have the added advantage of knowing him since he was a yearling. I have not seen him for 2 years though and he was sold on. He recently came up for LWVTB with the new owner and i snapped her hand off. I have always had a soft spot for him and daughters pony has just been retired. I have noticed he clicks in walk (quite loudly) I mentioned it to a friend and she said first owner had all the tests done etc and she knows more about it than anyone, i will ring her asap to get all the information but now i am in a pickle and want to buy him but worried he will have problems in later life, i have been told he will fail a vetting so that puts me off straight away. Have any of you any experience of this? x

Hiya
we bought a welsh sec a this year who clicks when she walks. Owner said she had always done it, she is 14 now and is a full on games pony and has been for the last ten years. She is a little cracker that I have known on the circuit for several years and I have never known her lame so we went ahead and bought her. Apart from developing strangles within 3 weeks :( of buying her she is fit as flea. I didnt have her vetted and she will eventually be sold on through the Pony Club to people who know her and will accept that it has never affected her.
Good luck !

I wouldn't worry. I bought a 5 year old 7/8 tb who has a clicking fetlock. She passed a 5 stage vetting and went on to win at novice BE, win the Riding Clubs open 3DE and win points at medium dressage. She's 17 now and about to come back into work after having her first foal, with never a lame day. Go for it!

Thank you!!! Its great to read such positive replies, i have spoken to his previous owner today and she told me he was fully checked by the vet when he first started to click and vet said he can be operated on but its not a great success rate. She was told he would never pass a vetting with it but he most probably wont have any long term affects from it. I still want to buy him but not at the price owner wants, if she refuses my offer i am willing to keep him o my premises till he is sold x
