Clicking joints... Should I be worried?

I have noticed that in the least 6 months or so my yellow man's knees and hocks click when he picks them up for me to pick out, and occasionally when he walks off after standing for a while. I know I do this, my knees, elbows and fingers always click! But he is a heavy boy and I'm worried he may be showing early signs of what could become arthritis? Does anyone else have any experiance of this? Is there any supplement I should start giving him to help this? Any answers would be very appreciated!

How old is he??? My mare's joints used to click when she was young, but now she is older and in regular work its not a problem.

Oh course it could be early arthritis who knows, so it might be a precaution to feed a supplement and if he is fit and kept fit and kept at an ideal weight then he is likely to have less joint problems.

But I shouldn't worry too much, enjoy him, and next time vet comes have a chat.

Thanks for your replies I'm glad I didn't get jumped on and told he'd have to be retired or anything awful like that!! He's 10 years old, almost 11 but I never noticed it when he was younger... I shall have a look at those links and hopefully it won't turn into anything sinsister! Thanks again
