Hi, My 15yo Arab is very clicky in his hind leg/hip area. I have had the vet on multiple occasions and we are still investigating but I wondered if anyone has some idea of what it could be?
My first thought is Arthritis but he is not in any pain, well, none that is even slightly obvious, and there is no lameness evident. He runs, plays with the herd and seems generally happy and content.

He is prone to laminitis, though is currently fine in that regard.

Any ideas much appreciated :)

My boy clicks especially this time of year. Been told as above , air bubbles. Never caused us any issues. I've asked vets and physios previously to be told not to worry.

My OH is clicky - I asked him if it hurt or if he felt anything and he said no. So I'm reassured that when my gelding clicks it's not a problem ;)

I have a clicky horse too. no sign of it in winter but it seems to happen when the grass is having strong growth. Feeding extra magnesium reduces it in our case.

Not a horse obviously but my ankles, knees, neck, elbows etc all click when I move.. even my jaw clicks when I yawn. Doesn't hurt at all and I don't have any issue that I know of that causes it so I would try not to worry!

Thanks for the replies. I will obviously keep a check on it but while he seems happy think I will hold off on further tests. The vet is not concerned, just me. Sometimes I wonder if I have the right temperament to own horses hahaha.

Mine clicks very loudly somewhere in his back end, but only sometimes - it makes me cringe, particularly when it's so loud I can hear it from on board, but he doesn't seem at all bothered and the vet isn't worried, so I try my best to ignore it! But it's always comforting to see threads like these and know he's not the only one who does this.
