Hello me again :o

My youngster has had a growth spurt in the last week and his back end has shot up. However since then his stifles have started to click, a lot and also seems a little stiff at times. He was fine before the growth spurt.

He's 3, not in any work and out during the day and in at night.

Is this just a phase? Or going to be an issue?

Okay this is very weird, I posted about 3 days ago that my mare has clicking stifles all of a sudden, and since then have seen about 4 other threads started about the same thing, its starting to make me think there is something in the air? mine has stopped today and is looking alot more comfortable and free moving, I am in two minds as to whether to call the vet, the only other thing that has changed is that she is in season, and she has discovered acorns! could it be toxins or pain by being in season?

My friesian stiffles lock when she has a growth spurt, I hate it as it looks so bad, we had the vet out and he said backing her, and trotting in hand to her build her up would help.

Spooky - my friesian also has this issue. At 4 the vet said he should grow out of it - he is now 8 and although its a lot better, it does still happen. Typically though I think as they get stronger it improves.
