Hi all,
I have a very fluffy Welsh, currently has a low trace clip. Was hoping to show him in the spring, just some in-hand and ridden classes hopefully veteran and M&M classes.

I'm wanting to clip him again before feb- was going to give him either a blanket or hunter clip, and want to continue to do so throughout the summer, as he still gets sweaty even with his summer coat.

Can I how him clipped in an M&M class? Would it get him marked down?

I'd much rather have him clipped and not sweaty, so if that is the case I wouldn't enter him in those classes.

Hope this makes sense! I just don't want to waste my money entering classes I haven't a chance of winning.

M&M classes Winter showing you are allowed clipped ponys provided you leave the legs on. In summer clipped ponies will generaly be marked down if the judge can tell they have been clipped. If you fully clip several weeks before he show and blend in his legs (so no distinct lines and time for a bit of regrowth) then you may be fine.

Veteran classes can be clipped on welfare grounds but I would fully clip in that case not a trace clip.

As above although bib clips or full clips are the most common. For the summer invest in a pair of Lister Covercote blades (I think that's what their called) It leaves 4mm of hair on and looks like a summer coat. I had to clip a coloured I had on loan for the championships and no one noticed he was clipped at all! Skin needs to be in good condition though to maintain a shine without a coat
