were down in the south and although its really nice during the day, i find it still gets to cold and night to be bare, so they have a medium rug on, and there both fine in it!

Both my fullyclipped horse and my unclipped horse have their Rambo Wugs (I think these are M/W) on at night becuse the temperatre drops alotat night. They feel fine in those rugs now but as soon as they start to feel a bit warm I'll get them a lighter weight rug each..........How spoilt are my horses

My girl is out 24/7 now and is clipped (not full) and is only just going naked in the day and has a lightweight at night, as its a touch chilly for a horse with little hair IMO, and mine is a native!

We have same problem on our yard, and this always gets my goat!

What is right for one horse may be different for another depending on breed/age etc.

My friends Fell mare blanket clipped is now naked at night because she was too hot. My TBxID fully clipped boy still needs a M/W rug on at night, but the rows this causes you would not believe!

We are none of us wrong, we are just doing what is best for our individual horses!!

Rant over!!

Murphy is out naked all day in this weather. He is unclipped. He always has access to hay though, so that he can keep his heat up that way. x

Depends on the weather! One is hunter clipped, the other trace. The hunter clipped horse now has a Boett on and is naked otherwise (he is naturally a very hot horse so never ever seems to get cold at all!). The trace clipped one is a woose though, Ive been letting him go nude if its a nice day (every day for the past week) but am still putting on a summer Amigo turnout at night. Today I kept him rugged with a thin stable rug underneath as it was threatening rain. All my others are naked, and have just been given a very small clip as they are SO hairy yet hot!

Everyday is different - the other night he had his full neck hw on because it was about -2, but tonight its to be 9 degrees so he'll just have a fleece or thin rug on. I take it day by day, its just too changeable just now not too.

Interesting - I was just planning a post on the same thing. My hunter clipped horse has been out 24/7 for the last few weeks with no rugs during the day for the last couple of warm weeks. I keep a very close eye on the projected temperatures and tonight is not due to drop below 7 degrees and his current field is a good 2 degrees warmer than where he is in the summer so he is going naked tonight...!!!! Am I am bad mummy? He only really ever seems to get get cold unrugged if it is wet and windy and that can happen in full summer weather. I get up at 5am anyway so I am able to check his temperature at pre-dawn which is usually the coldest part of the night and he always seems fine. He is a horse after all, a fairly chunky one at that and seems fairly able to cope. Luckily I am not on a yard with other people's opinions but I value those on here.

I feel mean now! Shadow is half TB and hunter clipped and I've put her out without a rug tonight, but she is a good doer and is well covered enough to keep warm and the temperature isn't meant to drop to below 7 degrees tonight.
