Hi all,

I clipped my mini in December, some of you may remember me posting photos etc. He was dementedly itchy so we clipped him to find all over his face and neck little round scabs/bald bits. Looked like rain scald but I wasn't 100% so we rubbed aloe vera on him got some skin soothing supplements in his diet & got vet out who was also stumped, gave us a sulphur shampoo to use.
He was clipped in December & now finally all scabby bits are gone, his skin is still a bit dry and flakey. However his hair is growing back tuftt & patchy confusingly the hair is growing where his skin was the worst & the rest of him looks freshly clipped!
Was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? & wondering if I will have a bald mini forever ...

One of the donks I look after looses the hair on her bum at the end of every winter. It gradually falls out and the skin underneath is dry and scaly. When she first got it we thought it was rain scald and treated it as such - no difference. Got the vet out who also said RS but when we said we had been treating to no difference suggested lice. Again no difference after treatment. Spoke to another vet and we have come to the conclusion that it is a remnant of the rainscald she got before she came to us (rescued from the meat trade in Romania) No way of preventing or treating it, just have to bear with it as it goes through its yearly cycle. It doesn't seem to be uncomfortable for her - just very unsightly!

my boy still looks freshly clipped, was clipped in December time.

he has flaky skin & gets itchy too this time of year, so far the shampoo the vets has given me seems to have helped, however, his coats not growing back yet! his saddle patch & legs are shedding, and he has long hairs growing all over, but no summer coat yet

maybe they no something we dont

My horses still look freshly clipped, even though they were done in December.

I think because we have had an early spring the winter coat hasnt grown back but the summer coat has come through instead.

Some are just late with their coats.
However my mare was clipped in January.. she now has a full summer coat and is living out naked, no idea how that has happened! (And shes fat btw :P )
