This is probably abit of a thick question but please humour me!!.Do you think that clipper blades have a shelf life so to speak!.Is there a point with x amount of clips and x amount of sharpens that they have a point where they are are no good anymore??.Thankies!.

I would have thought that eventually they wouldnt be the same size as when you bought them so in theory they must have a shelf life.

I honestly don't know LOL!! I have many different blades for my clippers in the UK and I used the blades for all the livery horses, my own plus I did travelling clipping for others. I've never thrown away any sets of blades and have always had them sharpened and they never seem to become less, LOL!! I guess they must wear out eventually but you would possibly get 20 years out of a set?

Thank guys. When they sharpen the blades they grind them to sharp with some type of machine (might be wrong!!) so i guess that they must take away even a small amount of blade whilst grinding them??.So i wonder if there is a point of no return!!.
You can probaly tell i have too much time on my hands to think up these things!!

Thanks for asking this, my blades were originally bought back in 1992 and are still going strong and the chap who sharpens them has not commented that they are not going to last much longer yet.
