Clipper blades that come with clippers

I'm buying my 1st clippers and wondering about the blades. The person that clips for me always uses a medium blade on my light grey. I'm happy with the result of that clip. However all the clippers I am looking at seem to come with the fine blades only which I will never use! Is there any chance of getting a med blade instead of the fine? I will be buying online. Or do any of you use the fine blades on your greys and how do they look afterwards?

I work for a clipper supplier who sell a range of different makes and if you ring up and explain what you want we can normally swap the blades over no problem unless you are after something specialist or more expensive. Some do come with mediums already on so it is always worth a call to see what you are getting.
I will say though that we are having issues getting hold of any Lister medium blades at the moment (as are all other clipper stockists) as unfortunately they had a problem with they blade making machine. They have been really good at getting what they can to us but mediums seem to be non-existent at the moment.

The Liberty is on my short list as well for when I eventually decide how to replace my old clippers. I get seriously jealous when I pack them for people everyday. We have a deal on at the moment with the Liberty combi pack.
We can get 'Lister Fit' medium blades so if you don't mind the fact they aren't branded with Lister then all is good.

ETA - make sure that whatever you buy can be repaired/servcied. Before I worked where I do, I got a pair of Sure Clips. Good clippers, great price but as far as I am aware they can't be serviced or repaired unless sent back to the manufacturer as you can't get the spares and I think that is in China?! Happy to be corrected though.

I don't have any pics ATM, but we use Lister Star clippers with the fine blades to do a high chaser clip with half head on one of our greys, and it doesn't leave her looking pink at all. I personally prefer the fine blades clipped look on any horse - looks far smarter & neater to me, but that's just my personal opinion. :)

They are quite loud and heavy but, for a skint teenager, they were the only thing I could afford at the time. They have lasted 4 years with clipping every month or so but they are starting to die now and I don't see the point in trying to get them repaired. The difficult thing is working out what to replace them with. I did use a Harmony Plus the other day which I really liked but I don't think it would cope with the amount I clip.

Personally I've only ever used mediums, I think it depends a bit as to what you're clipping. Fine blades would be ok on a horse with a naturally fine winter coat, whereas mine live out 24/7 so get pretty fuzzy (even though rugged) so they'd look stupid with a fine clip ;)
