hey everyone,

has anyone ever had their clipper blades sharpened and they came back soo blunt that they wont go through hair AT ALL?

Well i did and i dont know what to do. have the people that blunted the blades completly ruined them and need to replace them or can they just be resharpened?

Will they believe that these are the same blades and eithier give me my money back, resharpen them or replace them?

any help greatly appricieted,

Chung

Silly question but are your clippers tensioned correctly?

I know this will not help but I sent some blades for sharpening and got the wrong set back (mine were medium and the ones that came back were fine). When I phoned up the bloke was very unhelpful and just told me I should be grateful to have a fine set. Not really as I already had a set of fine blades and the ones I had sent were my only set of medium blades. He refused to accept that they had made a mistake.

Same thing happened to me last November. I took two sets of blades to the local tack shop to be sent away for sharpening and when I got them back one set was fine and the other wouldn't cut through the hair at all:(. I just assumed that blades don't last forever and bought a set of replacement blades. Be interested to follow this thread to see if I was wrong.

slightly different i brought a new pair of blades for mine and i went to use then and they were blunt tried all different tensions etc, sent them back to be sharpen (FOC) came back still blunt, so they replaced them for me. i think you can try again but if the blades are old it may just be they are coming to the end of there life.

Blades do not last for ever, Ive just sent a few sets off to Clippersharp they have all come back, but on 2 sets they have put stickers across them saying "these blades have come to the end of their life" compared to the others I can see why, they have been re ground so many times they lose their edge.(Hard to explain without showing them)
As for all those who have had wrong blades sent back, I put my initials on both parts of the blades with nail varnish and I have ALWAYS got my own blades back.

your blades can only be sharpened so many times but they usually say on the box when they return how many more times it can be done. before you go back to the sharpening company, make sure you tension an clippers are ok if thats all fine take them back and ask them whats happened, take you reciept.

Yes, mine have been off twice to the Stock Shop through two local saddlerys and come back blunt. I took them back and made a fuss until they sent them back for resharpening, and they still came back blunt. Eventually took them somewhere else and they put it right. Same people also broke my clippers, TWICE. I now won't send any of my blades or the clippers to anyone who uses Stock Shop.

Take them back and insist they are put right.
