Hi all

I got some Liveryman Chaser clippers about 5 months ago as my old clipper were getting on. However my new ones are getting very hot really quickly. I oil them every 10 mins and have removed hair after every use but they are getting soooo hot still. I have tried loosening the tension bit by bit as I thought maybe I had tensioned them to tight, but it doesnt work and then when I do them to lose they obviously stop cutting.

They are only being used for mane and legs at the moment (have a show cob) but dont know how I am going to do a full clip in winter as are getting hot within 5 minutes. I have got new blades too but they are still the same!

Any advice please - thanks! Or is there a fault on this model as it is a new model only cam out end of last year I think.

Thanks x

Take out the blades and dunk in meths for quick cooling. You might want to get a spare set so you can interchange without stopping for ages. One pair in use, one pair in meths. Very cooling!

It does sound as though the tensioning may be wrong. Are you using the correct oil?

I had some Lister Neon clippers that got quite warm but nothing like you are experiencing. As I nnow have to clip more horses I have a heavier duty pair - Lister Laser - and don't have the problem.

I had the same problem with my clippers last year which was also lister, took them back to the shop and they send them back to lister and was repaired free off charge under warranty. You only get 12 months warranty with them so get them sent back. Mine have been fine since it was a motor inside which was heating up so got replaced.

Thanks - I might have to send them to manufacturer then as I have tried with looser tension many times but they just dont cut so tighten gradually until they cut n they still getting hot!!

Who do I contact for Liveryman is it Eddie Palin?

Nope - think again! :D:eek:

Im not sure what make mine are - doesn't make too much difference to me - but i had the same problem!

My problem is not the tension but the oil!
The oil they provide you with absorbs the small dust and drags it into the internals of the mechanism - creates wear and tear on the internal parts and therefore causes heat!
I had to send mine off under warranty where they stripped them and sent them back like new with a new oil and told me only to oil after i have finished with them?!
Not how i was taught but i have done what they say and all seems to be working fine! :D

Oh dear why do they send you that oil with them if it doesnt work then lol!

I have emailed Eddie Palin Distribution so hopefully they will get back to me soon!

Yes it's eddie palin. I would send them back. You have tried tensioners etc and at the end off the day your wananty is ticking by. My motor was heating up in mine so there could be something wrong with it. All very well people saying wrong oil etc but it's not their clippers that's heating up and some people might put up with problems but I wouldn't.
