Clipper Reccomendations- corded or cordless

So I have some Liveryman Harmony clippers that I purchased last year but am going to sell them as they really struggled with the the thicker parts of his Welsh D coat- would probably have been ok had I had lots of time and not sure of the results had I used the mains lead but dont want to risk it again in case they struggle again.

So anyone got any reccomendations for a nice, preferably quiet, pair of clippers without breaking the budget- would consider both cordless or corded pairs.
 
I have the Liveryman Harmony battery pack set and I think they are wonderful!
Ive clipped everything from show ponies to hunters to M&M's including heavy feather and hogging and never struggled.
If you are finding they are struggling and you really want a more heavy duty pair then go for mains ones, I have Liveryman ones and they are still going strong 20 years on! :)
 
Liveryman Harmony's and their like, are ok for clean well groomed thoroughbreds, but In my opinion not man enough for shaggier coats. Sadly in my years of experience, there is realy only one cordless clipper that performs and that is the lister, the problem is, that by the time you have purchased the machine and the battery pack, the cost is very high. Heinegar do a nice cordless machine, with a snap in battery, but you realy need to buy a spare battery for peace of mind. Cordless is the holy grail of clippers, but nobody has broken the barrier between power reliability and price. You can get low power at a cheap price or high power at a high price, not much other choice. Good luck in your hunt. If I see anything in my travels I will post you.

Im sorry TheEngineer, I would normally bow to your superior knowledge, but I completely disagree with you that the Harmony's are only good for TBs.
My Fell mare has a cushings coat and the Harmony's glide through it, I clipped a very old, very hairy pony on Sunday, who had a few matts to his coat (recent purchase from a market) and they coped absolutely fine.
As I said, I have done full feathers, hogged manes, and have even clipped around a burst abscess to get rid of the dried in pus and blood.
I really cant see how anyone could say that their Harmony's struggle??!
 
i would suggest you go for mains powered and either opt for lister, wolsley or heigner. all good makes and models and can cope with most coats. Remember on hairy/grubby horses you have to go slower in your clipping and allow the blades to cut through wiry type hair. and oil frequently. maybe you just tried to go faster than your machine was able to go with the type of hair!
 
I have no recommendations, just to warn you against the Liveryman Harmony Clippers.
However I see you're in agreement!
 
Lister Liberty - hog my show cob all year round and clip in winter, make mincemeat of it all to be honest, the battery lasts at least 3 hours if you charge initially the way the instructions tell you to!
I also have the mains adapter just in case! Well worth the money (got mine around £280) - you really will wonder why you ever used anything else!
The other thing about the Libertys is they are smaller and lighter than most clippers but can easily convert to mains with little more weight - I have a dodgy shoulder and had to borrow a mains pair last year, and it really buggered my shoulder up due to the extra weight.
