Clippers Help!

I need a CHEAP pair of clippers that could go through a canny bit of fur.


He's so hairy, i think he hasn't been rugged up in a while. Ive only recently got him and decided i want to clip him.

I want a pair of clippers CHEAP AS POSSIBLE, that could clip through his mass of hair and could handle the time it'll take.

Would human clippers be Ok to use?

I highly doubt human clippers would do the job. If you don't want to shell out a couple of hundred £££ for a set of clippers, it might be worth paying somebody to do the job, and then take your time to find the clippers you want.
 
If he's very hairy you definately need horse clippers...which aren't that cheap so maybe best just paying £20-£30 for someone else to do it like Janette said?
 
Human clippers might take the odd chunk off but wouldn't do more than that and he'd just look moth eaten. Offer to bath your horse before clipping and see if they'll charge less. It makes it much less effort and will take less out of the clippers.

Could you bring yourself to leave it a few weeks until it all moults anyway?
 
If you use clippers that are not up to such a job, they will overheat, get blunt and may even out him off being clipped at all.
What type and size is he?
 
Human clippers are a distinct "No No" and you will be hard pressed to find a decent pair of clippers "Cheap" There are cheap clippers out there, but you get what you pay for. If he has a very woolly coat, I would be inclined to pay someone to clip him now and then save your dosh until you have enough to invest in a decent pair of clippers. Something with full width blades, preferably a set of standard and coarse blades and then you will be set up. There is plenty of choice out there, but I would suggest sticking to a machine from the main manufacturers, IE Wolseley, Lister, Heinegar or Liveryman. They all have been around for a while and produce a good selection of reliable machines.

I bought my clippers of Ebay - Liveryman Mustangs. they cost £150. That's half price. I had previously tried to use 'lesser' clippers to clip feather and it was a terible job. Much better job with the real thing.
