I have always paid someone else to come & clip the boys but am now thinking of buying my own set!!! Reason being one horse is so untrusting that he had to be sedated last year but he lets me trim him with light weight clippers no problem so don't think he'll have too much of a problem if just me & him. Help please, only need to clip two this winter one with a trace the other with a blanket maybe full as my lines could be very poor, and the one with a blanket lasts for ever. Don't need industrial type just quiet and lighter the better don't mind mains or cordless.
Many thanks

Probabley best if you get advise from a clipper specialist. They will tell you which clippers will be suitable for what you want to do. I usually deal with Clippersharp, they are very helpful.

I bought lister liberty they are hands free and suited tb and welsh cob.I found them easy to use and had never clipped before. The battery lasts couple of hours unlike some of the hands free.Eilleen douglas was the cheapest when I bought mine.

i would second the lister liberty, my girl used to have to be sedated and twitched to get clippers anywhere near her. I noticed when the YO was clipping with her lister she wasn't stressed at all, I asked if I could borrow them for 2 minutes and she let me clip out her shoulder! She was a bit jumpy but not the usual 'I'm going to kill you if you come anywhere near me with those' I'm selling my Heiniger normal clippers and getting a pair for this winter

Would advise against the Wahl and Moser, they are good for what they are, which is trimmers with a bit more oomph! But clippers are your best bet, Liberty is Ok, low powered, but quiet, Wolseley Swift is good but a bit more powerful and heavier. Rumours abound that Wolseley have a new clipper out this season, called the "Hunter", very quiet and still with some decent power. Its not released yet, but should be there soon, might be worth the wait!
