They are Lister Star clippers. Not mine (makes it all the worse!) Possibly 3/4 years old.

Not even halfway through a blanket clip, andthe just cut out on me. Had been oiled etc before, and I was minutes from switching them off to oil them again. Have taken blades out, cleaned put back, pressed reset and tried a different socket, they won't turn on :(

Any tips, greatly appreciated. A, they're not mine and B, I have a rather daft looking poby right now!!

TYIA!!!

It's perhaps a wire come loose or something? It sounds like you're going to have to find someone who services them, or even better, tell the owners and see where they want to send them - it may have happened before..

Thank Honey08, I have no problem paying for them to be fixed if need be... I just don't understand what happened!!

Has the plug fused?

How would I check that WelshD? Probs a blonde question, but I've never done it before!

Definitely not the extension cable either, as I'very just used it with a kettle to boil water and hot cloth the area I've managed to clip!

the fuse - in easy to understand terms

Take a look at the plug, usually you have to unscrew the plug to get at the fuse but some more modern plugs have a little rectangular section that you prise off to get to the fuse without opening the plug up (a kitchen standard eating knife is ok for this - be careful!)

the fuse is a little barrel with a metal cap at each end

It will have letters and numbers on it - something like 13A

You need to find an appliance that has the same number fuse in it - try that kettle

Prise the fuse out and swap it with the other one

Put the plug back together and try the clippers again

Usually a fuse would go as soon as you plug something in for the first time but its worth a try and will take a couple of mins max

If it was the fuse nip to Tescos and buy a new pack (max £2) and get one back in the kettle before someone needs a cuppa!

Thanks Tern, There's no Red button thatI could see. YO had a look, said it's definitely not the fuse but possibly the internal brushes, he also said it's definitely not burnt out, which is good news!

He reckons he can repair them, as they're 3+ years old, but I said I'd rather waiting and speak to the owner, who I'll probably see tomorrow now.

Poor Red, he has no neck hair and a stripe along his belly missing, and his other side is untouched!!
