I was clipping the horse last night and had just about finished one side when there was a flash and a burning smell!! I assume th motor has gone!!

They are Woolsey clippers. Does anyone know how much a reconditioned motor would be or is it cheaper to buy a new pair?

Thanks

Our Wolseley clippers went bang a couple of years ago and I was pleasantly surprised how cheap they were to recondition. Best to ring a local clipper service/sharpening place. I sent mine in via tack place so there was probably a bit of commission added too. So good luck :)

Thanks Yasandcrystal, we have a local CWG and the guy there is great with the clippers and blades etc. I really hope its not going to cost too much!! Have got a friend coming out to finish him off as he looks as if he has been eaten by moths!!

Usually when this happens it is the brushes that have worn and it 'freezes' the engine.

It is worth sending them away to have an estimate on the cost of repair and is worth having clippers serviced by an electrical repair person.

You can take them into a local electrical shop and they will tell you what is wrong. Saves on postage and time.

I dropped my Lister clippers and pretty much blew them up (even though they were attached to a power breaker, it failed!)

So was pleasantly surprised that it only cost £45 to repair them at Listers including the courier service back :)
