Clippers - What do you prefer?

I have used my Hauptner 3000 clippers for the first time today and theyre fab!!! They will take liveryman blades and theyre light to use also. I do however use a small pair of cordless clippers for the face/jaw and any fiddly bits like elbows as my horse is extremely ticklish. He likes the small pair of clippers round his head also as theyre quiet and there's no wire hanging around his face when im trying to do his poll area.

Would hate to do a full clip with cordless - not powerful enough. I have a set of Worsely Swift clippers that I've had for donkey's years and a set of cordless liveryman clippers that I use for trimming faces and fiddly bits but as a whole, I think you get a better result with the big clippers.

(If I had to have one or the other I'd have the corded ones.)

Lister Liberty (cordless) are perfectly able to do do two big horses full clips......I hate clipping, but these make it sort of bareable. Which reminds me, must book them in for a service and get my blades sharpened!

Just a quick question, do you think the Lister are noisey clippers? Awww why you hate clipping? x

Friend on my yard has lister libertys and they are very quiet and do a full clip easily. I am suprised and quite impressed by them in honesty.

However, I still prefer my extreme heavy duty ones which are as loud as hell because it takes me about half an hour to do a full clip and I can do six back to back without them batting an eyelid.

If you don't have power sockets everywhere though I would seriously consider cordless. I had an extension line in an extension line today to clip and idiot horse was terrified of my loud clippers. He'll lean though cos I aint changing!

I don't think that they are any nosier than any other.....Why do I hate clipping? Something to do with getting hair in every oriface....one horse is horrible to do, and I always end up having to twitch him, the other is lovely - but it is the fluffy bit under their tummy's that gets up my nose (quite literally...) Then my arm continues to vibrate for many hours after finishing. Then there is the cleaning of the clippers.....and tasting oil for days.....plus going from just one light rug to up to about 3-4 to put on every night, exercise sheets etc. But the horses do look lovely - especially after the 2nd clip for some reason (does anyone else find that?)

Yup the second clip is better -- Clippers don't have to work as hard and I too, hate hate hate clipping... clipped today and still have an itch I can't scratch up my nose.
