o the person who's clippers I use is no longer around and I have to buy some, I don't have a massive amount of money but I do have to buy some as my girl is rather furry
and in a couple of years my very very hairy boy will need clipping. Does anyone have any recommedations of clippers that aren't going to cost me half my wages?!
it's a difficult one, mine are lister and now 3 years old. they were about £200 at the time, an arm and a leg, but i will say this for them, they are still like new and i "hire" mine out to people on my yard and so they "earn" some of their cost back all the time. Are you able to do this too perhaps?
if you hire them out????????????!!i do hope they are pat tested and serviced you would be liable!!!!! best to buy your own and cherish!!!wolsley lister heigner are al god and should see you through.
I bought some masterclip clippers last year and I must say they are excellent! Half the price of most and do a great job as they are heavy duty.
I spent ages comparing them to all the leading brands (weight/noise etc) and they are almost identical to many of them.
They are a little bit on the loud side (not as quiet as some of the new models now on the market) so as long as your horse is relatively good to clip then I think they would be fine
They cost me £115 new - my friend loved them so much that she bought a pair too!
I paid £270+ for my Listers many moons ago.... I think over 10 years now! They still work perfectly and do a cracking job! Worth their weight in Gold!
My friend bought some cheaper £120 clippers, can't recall the brand, she only clips her 2 horses and after 18 months they packed in! My friend looks after all of her stuff really well too!
You get what you pay for in my opinion. My friends experience speaks volumes to me! Quality lasts longer! I would save up and buy a decent pair, and maybe clip peoples horses to earn abit of cash.
I don't like lending mine out - if they got broken I'd be up the swanney.... then you fall into that old scenario where the person you lend them to is dishonest in not replacing/re-imbursing you for them! xx
My heinger ones of 2yrs old have just packed in (dont know why yet) and are just about to be sent of to be fixed.. so cant say im too pleased as they cost me about £200.. :/
