ok in your opinion what are the best clippers to buy ( will be clipping 1 horse through out the winter ) and where is the place to buy them?

I have a pair of wahl avalons and a pair of lister harmony's... theyre essentially the same clipper (made by the same people). dead easy to use (no blade tensioning, just snap on snap off blades), light weight but serious enough to clip a hairy! the wahl is battery powered, but the lister is mains (i switched to the listers as I was then doing 2 or 3 horses and didn't want to wait for the battery to charge cos i'm impatient). the blades with easily do 2 full clips and 2 re-clips on big horses.

once you know what you want to get, do a google for them and find the cheapest price!

I did a huge amount of research on this last year prior to buying my first ever pair of clippers.

For what I wanted, I thought the Heiniger Progress came out tops - bought them, and am very happy with them. Never having used another set of clippers, I can't compare them at all though!

Another woman at my yard also bought a set of them after trying mine on her horse as he was very bad to clip, but because they are fairly quiet, she managed to clip him with them.

I got mine from Farmcare UK - good price, and good service.

I have just got a set of lister neons. Not sure what they will be like to use yet but they had good reviews so fingers crossed they are as good as they are supposed to be.

I'm English and it hurts to say this but there is no longer such a thing as BOG standard, just G standard! Go German, Heineger or hauptner are solid. The problem with lister, wolsely and smaller clippers is plastic. The comb pegs on them are all plastic, actually so are hauptners... If you want a reliable clipper go Heineger. They have a range but check to see which is most suitable for you./;)

Another vote for heinegers, I have heineiger progress clippers they are great, really quiet, light and easy to use.
