I am a dog groomer and i used a set of Andis clippers it has the two speeds, however i find it difficult to get through matted dogs with them.
Does anybody know of any that are good for matted dogs??
I am not concerned about the price but don't want a pair that are too heavy as i already have a weak wrist.
Thanks.

Are you using a fine enough blade? For a really matted coat I wouldn't use anything longer than a #10. Or try clipping against the hair with a slightly longer blade, using a full not a skip tooth. I use both Andis and Aesculap clippers but find the Andis blade will heat up much faster. The Aesculap are better for heavy duty clipping. I actually use my horse clippers for very matted large dogs, but they are VERY heavy in comparision to dog clippers..

Yes i have used #10 and sometimes a #7 against the grain of the coat, all my blades a full tooth.
I can't understand why its happening it hasn't alays been like this so something has gone wrong somewere, but i am so busy with my work load i havn't got time to figure out what is happening so thought it easier to get a new pair.

I use Oster clippers.......they are very good and I do a large number of matted dogs and never have any probs with them......they maybe a little more expensive but definatley been worth it for me.......I have 2 pairs.
