Have posted before, plan to clip the haffy (youngster) his first clip and ours!!!!!!! He will be hunting next season alot and he is a sweaty betty.... doesn't even have the finest summer coat now!

You helpful people suggested some sort of neck and belly to get me started and him!

He is fine with battery clippers on him now ( been working on it for mths lol) and have a few hours this afternoon spare, so plan to get the electric clippers plugged in, going to take him into the yard ( if dry) and get him used to all the wires, IF and only IF it went well would you try doing any actual clip as a practice for us pre posh clip autumn!

Or is it just too early? He is worked about 4 times a week and is very fit at the mo! XX

do you want to show? if the answer is yes then it is too early, if the answer is no then clip away. baring in mind that any pink skin you will need to put sun cream on, on hot days.

No I wouldn't clip now to be honest, apart from the fact I think it's too early you will also be making a lot of work for yourself by having to keep it up. Unless of course you mean by just making a strip in his coat so he can feel the blades in which case you could try it but I wouldn't do anymore than that.

It's great that you're putting lots of time into it, I did the same with both of mine and can now give them full hunter clips without even tying them up. Putting the groundwork in makes life so much easier in the long run!

thanks for the replies! Think I will wait until hes rugged! Yes putting in lots of ground work, hes a willful sod but if you ask the right questions he will always be willing, so making our lives easier really by spending lots of time working on him... I was just worried we would cock it up, like horses out hunting looking immaculate! XX
