Hi, my friend has just moved her 3 horses too their own place, they are currently awaiting planning permission to get their stables put up, the thing is she wants to go hunting and really needs her boy clipped for this, she will be having a blanket clip.
My question is do you think he will be okay to be clipped and stay out 24/7 for the next 6 weeks until her stables are up? Obviously he will be rugged up?
thanks in advance

Agree, rug up well and make sure neck is covered, they stay sooo much warmer!!!be fine!My boy lives out and i will hav to clip him this year, not a blanket, but seeing his coat in previous years he gets less winter coat living out than he did living in,purely because he is always on the move and stays warm!!

Oh yes, Star is much happier in winter.

We were just saying today how much better she moves when the ground is soft. Being out 24/7 is much better for her older joints too

My hunter is hunter clipped and lives out 24/7. She hates being in and drops a lot of condition if I have to bring her in for any reason. She has permanent access to stables but only ever comes in for feed and even then she tends to flit in and out. She hunts twice a week or competes through the winter and I have no trouble with her and she is so much happier.

Yes of course. 2 of mine (including a TBx) are hunter clipped during the winter and live out 24/7 well rugged up and well fed of course. They also have access to stables / shelters at all times. But since the winter hasn't really started yet I wouldn't think the lack of a shelter is a problem just yet.
