I'm going to.my first winter championships this year with my 2 YO. problem is he's a fuzz ball in the winter and it really doesn't do him justice. I'm wondering whether I can hunter clip him to show off his muscle? He's a lovely WHP type. How do other people manage? I'm only doing the youngstock class and his class requires him to be plaited and trimmed? Would it be frowned on to clip?

Under no circumstances should anything under the age of 4 be clipped for showing as they shouldn't be doing any work to justify a clip. Rug him up well so his coat is flat but defo no clipping.

Just what was going to say!

rug up as soon as your dare more at night, my sec D (now 3 ) has a 40g rug on at nightand has done for a few weeks now, to keep her coat shortish, and to hopefully slow down the change of coat.

good luck in the showing! :)
