Clipping and trimming disasters :D

I clipped my cobs mane and feathers out for a show in late summer, wanted to know if he was good enough to compete against some show cobs in hand (he doesnt understand the words work in an outline). I have also always liked a hogged and clipped cob.

However now thats done and dusted I have decided I want his feathers and mane back. I dont regret my decision but at the moment he does have a mochican (Sp?) and bog brush's for feet.
 
A few years ago I cut my hairy Highland x mane with scissors - I thought it would look lovely. It was a total disaster. Never again! First time I ever clipped Sunny I was too afraid to put a lot of pressure on the clippers with the result that he looked like a moth-eaten jumble sale hearth rug most of the winter.
 
Years ago when I was a novice hunter groom I took off a wadge of mane while clipping a grumpy chestnut :-0 Took months to grow out, I had to sew it down whenever the boss went hunting! Mind you, the boss went one better and cut off his livery's forelock while cutting out plaits!! What gems have you to admit to toffee44?? :-)
 
Ah just read your next post toffee44! I hogged my Irish hunter and was horrified to discover- too late- that she looked just like Crichton from Red Dwarf!!
 
Oh he looked great but I like my boy with feathers now hes driving looks more proper now I have decided the show ring is not for me

Getting half way through a clip on my friends horse and the clippers packing up lol! I had done one side perfect and started on the other, took two large sweeps off and *game over - kaboooom - clippers went to clipper heaven* lol! xx

rudey - exactly same happened to me only a few days ago! - however clippers nearly new and under warranty. had to borrow some to finish the job!!
 
A groom I used to know decided to hog an arab. My understanding is that she got fed up trying sort out the mane, so without discussing with owners she hogged it. She lost her job.
