I am going to fully clip my Clydesdale (hes in full work, hunting fit and sweats like a pig) he is so hairy he never dries.

I am going to leave his legs on for protection his feathers are as good as boots.

I am going to do a stencil n his bum that says " XXL " I am going to use tape for the stencil. Does anyone have any top tips for clipping in designs? Do you need teeny special clippers? Any advice welcome.

Hi YL - brill idea re the XXL! Might crib that onto my slightly chunky {coughs nervously} cob! Was gonna put a boring old heart from a stencil I bought! To get a good clean line I'd outline the shape in lippy rather than tape and do it about 4 times on bits that you are then gonna shave off, so all your early mistakes will end up on the muck heap (or wherever your clippings go!). AS long as you go slowly round the letters you should be ok with any clippers. Good luck and please post pix when done! x

I find you don't need little clippers, etc as long as you get your angles right, you know when you go towards hair you just lift away, and catch all the lengths pointing towards the blades, etc. Good one! I once did a lightning flash on our pony.

Call me thick but how does the stencil work?!

I use vaseline to mark the lines (only a tiny bit though) and a beard trimmer to do the clipping as it's easy to handle and the blades are nice and small.
