I have a shire x mare she was 8 when i got her totaly untouched just been a broodmare anyway now had her for 6 months and slowly but surely she has turned into a lovely riding horse but i want to clip her out and she is terrified of the clippers and because she is a big girl she is very strong and because she is a 3/4 shire she is very hairy or will be i have made such a strong bond with her that i dont want to upset her myself so should i get the vet to sedate her and get someone else to clip her or do i clip her as she trusts me but then i dont want to upset her as she is the type of horse that doesnt forget

I would go the vet route if you are going to clip. No point recking the last 6 months hard work. Have you had her sedated before? My lad broke out in a sweat when he was sedated when he had his wolf teeth whipped out. Obviously if they pour with sweat, you can't clip! Something to bear in mind perhaps. xx

Get her sedated it will be worth it in the long run and be safer for both of you.
Sedalin may be enough and would be worth trying,I have found that sedation will if not to deep allow them to accept clipping in the future without the need for it.

thanks for that i am not sure sedalin will be enough she is quite a big girly i want to get her fully clipped and hogged so may also get someone who does clipping for a living to do it i can clip but your right i dont want to undo all the hard work i have done i am going to start tying her up near the horses which are starting to be clipped now see what she does and run some hand clippers up and down her to be quite honest she was like this the 1st time i bathed her it took a month to get her into the wash and except it now she doesnt care at all
