I have a mounted games pony I recently brought and he has a irish clip so just half neck belly etc but as he does a lot of work which is very fast and intense he gets very hot and sweaty which does start to affect his performance I know its april but I was wondering if its okay to clip it all off at this time of year? as I know your not ment to clip this late but its affecting him so im desperate:P

It will not do it any harm to clip it right out nor will it 'ruin' his summer coat.

If you trace or blanket clip the lines will show along his side but leg lines if you leave the legs on, will not.

I clipped my daughters shp last week. We show and it makes no difference to their summer coat. Obviously it does look a bit strange being newly clipped now ,but as long as you can live with that, then fine! I always take the rest of his coat off at this time of year as I cannot bare maulting yaks and my daughter is very allergic to him otherwise. Do what is best for you and your pony. No harm will come of it. :)
