Clipping the last few horses at work today got me thinking - How much do you pay for a clip - half and full - and in what part of the country are you?

I realised that if I had been freelancing then I would have earnt £8k in the last 3 months for the number of horses I have clipped as part of my job.

It thus got me thinking about going fully freelance next winter and going where there is work.

I dont :o

Both currently clipped (angels the pair of them!) but good mate comes in & does the job in superquick time, wont take money for doing the job, nor even the offer of blades sharpening.... I pop her kiddies on little fuzzy for a bimble round the yard or up the lane & back if they are with her, when the job is done.
I leave clipper oil presents for her & the odd bottles of vino.

Locally, its around £25-30 for a chaser clip

YM does Manni. he has a full clip, including head and ears, and this costs £30. for his first clip he has his legs off too, but on his second one we leave the legs on.

You also need to take into account how well behaved the horse is. If it messes about and wriggles it will take longer.

Manni just nods off, but does need someone hefty to hold his head whilst his ears are done, but doesn't need sedating or twitching at all. So I would think clipping him is a fairly easy £30.
