clipping in november

stupid question but i won’t be able to get my gelding clipped until mid november is that too late as some people have said too me that his summer coat will not grow back as it should but i personally thought that mid november was fine and it should last him until late december/january
any thoughts??

its never too late, one of mine used to be clipped all year round as he was hot and itchy even in summer.

yeah it's fine. I clip monthly until about January and then take the cat hairs off after that.

November is fine I have clipped late February and the summer coat was fine, a lot of showing people I know clip late and never have summer coat problems

Mine are clipped until the end of January. This has never caused an issue with their summer coat

I clip about every 3 weeks until Christmas & then a final clip end of january (except the cob who is clipped year round)

Crikey who told you that? I usually do first clip in October and keep clipping as it is needed. Last clip is usually late January.

I'm doing a first clip in November. My tb hasn't really got any sort of coat yet and if i leave it late enough i can get away with one clip as needs sedation to clip

MY final clip is normally in April to take everything off ... I find clipping until early Feb results in no lines; after that you might get lines so it only matters if you care. The coat will be fine.

i was thinking november was fine thanks guys he’s booked in for a clip on thursday so earlier than expected looking forward to the first ride post clip ?

November is absolutely fine. A lot of people clip multiple times through the winter right up until end Feb, beginning March as the hair regrows so quickly, even if they are rugged. I clipped my friends horse that she leant me for a fun ride in December and by beginning of May he had the most beautiful, shiny, even coat and the blanket clip had fully gone. My sister clips her horse several times throughout summer also as her horse has crippling allergies and if he gets too hot it he's himself raw. His coat grows back fine as the coat is continually growing and shedding, we just notice it more in autumn and spring as its more a dramatic change at those times.

I usually clip mid-October, December & early-Feb. Never had any issues with summer coat.

We even clipped one of the natives in March because she was so hot - no issues with summer coat.

I have always done my last clip end of Feb, never heard anyone say November is too late!
