Clipping in summer dilemma????

My two mares have full clips during the winter and I did the last clip at the end of January. They both get very hot and sweaty in the summer and my mare especially gets quite lethargic. My daughter competes her mare and has got hunter trials, fun ride and pony club camp coming up! I am considering clipping them both now as they seem to be getting thicker coats again.
They are both good doers and don't feel the cold. I would put lightweight turn outs on at night if cool/ wet and then leave without rugs during the day.
Does anyone else clip during the summer?

I keep thinking about it, and would if my horse was working harder. Have done in the past when one was showjumping. Just do it if it will help them.

I clip my boy in the summer because else i come back from every ride with a soaked horse. I show my boy so plan my clipping around shows! But do it if you need to

i clip in summer too - long coat - much happier horse and iin during day and fly rug/light nz at night.

I clip my native pony several times in the summer, keeps him happy not hot !
