Ive been clipping my own horses & friends horses for a fair few years now & am looking into this year advertising & clipping other peoples horses for a fee. Im assuming i will need insurance to do this, does anybody know what type of insurance this will be? & which companies offer this?
Thankyou!! :)

i cant answer your question but im in leeds and looking for someone to clip and hog my horse - if you are able to travel to leeds to do it would you pm me?

you will need professional indemnity, 3rd party public liability, and care, custody and control liability. All your machines will need to have a service record and PAT tested annually, and you will need to use a circuit breaker to comply with insurance requirements. personal accident insurance is also a good idea as you often get horses which are difficult! (which is why owners will pay a professional to do the job) As you are doing this for commercial gain your BHS cover wont cover you nor will the horses insurance policy. it is also a good thing to have 2 to 3 sets of clippers, and plenty of blades, as clippers can break, or get kicked and you still need to finish the job. Also check your car insurance will cover you for business use. Good luck
