My horse is terrified of clippers but will need to have a patch done for freeze marking.

To avoid the added stress to my horse & expense to me by having to get the vet out to sedate or giving Domosedan, do you think it would be possible to shave the area with a safety razor?

I will of course discuss it with the technician, but I just wonder if others have tried a safety razor for small areas.

Vets use them for clearing hair round wounds and before microchipping so there is no problem with them being used on a horse provided you are careful but for an area big enough for the freezemark you may need a pack of them as the horse is a bit hairyer than a beard that they are designed for :D

Thank you so much for replying.

I would have thought it would be OK as she's a fine coated tb not a hairy native type. It would save a lot of stress.

Thank you :)
