do you think it would be possible to clip a horses neck anf face with standerd human clippers. it doesnt matter about the clippers going blunt but would it work???????????
Wud take ages....and ages.... and ages... we tried on a horse that hated the clipping noise and really struggled as course hair - depends how many weeks you have free! But best of luck and have fun!
A horses hair is alot thicker than humans & it isn't necesarilly the cutters going blunt thats the problem it's the fact that you'd probably burn the motor out before you finished. Animal clippers, wether they be dog or horse have a much more powerful motor in them to cope with the thick fur/hair.
Yes, you can but as the others have said, you need a bit of patience and oil the blades regularly.
Make sure you use a length guard (3mm) on them as human clippers do cut very close and make sure the horse is clean before you start (never clip a dirty horse, the grit in the mud blunts the blades very quickly)
When we started clipping Jessie last year she wouldnt stand for a proper clipper set and so she was done with Human ones.
In fact the Jessie and Ebony clipping designs in my sig were clipped with a set of remingtons from Argos last year but the motors are nowhere as strong as proper horse ones and when the blades do go blunt they are not a servicable item like regular animal clippers.
3 to 4 hours (ish), you need to let them cool down as well - They are classed as lightweight trimmers, have narrow blades and will grind to a halt if you put a big cut on a thick coat.
Human mains clippers (trimmers) consume anything from 3 to 8 watts.
Wahl Articos at 80watts IIRC (battery pack)
Lister Lazers (mains) at 175 watts
Liveryman Apollo is rated at 110 watts , Arena plus, at 200watts, and the Broncos at 250 watts.
1 - a solvent which is designed to penetrate the old grease and gunge and acts as a carrier
2- is the mineral oil which is the lubricant in the spray.
It is classed as a penetrating and rust proofing spray.
The heavier (thicker) the oil, the better its lubricating properties. WD40 isn't a lubricating oil, and the solvent in it can get into the clipper gearbox and wash the factorys oil out of it.
You would be better getting a can of 3 in 1 oil or an equivalent.
Oil every 5 minutes, but shake the excess off or it could irritate your horse
