How many hunter clips would one set of blades do. Im thinking of clipping my self and investing in some this year, so was just wondering really. Need all the advise I can get. Which is a good brand to go for. Any other tips !

I switched to Lister Star Clippers the winter before last and I have to say, I've been very impressed with them- I got 4 full clips out of one set of fine blades before they needed sharpening, and even then they weren't desperate.

Before that , I had Hauptner clippers- they were a complete nightmare.

Heineger clippers are also reliable, havehad a pair of them in the past too, but have found Lister blades better for the time they last before needing sharpening.

I also have the lister ones they are exspencive but are brilliant, i normally use them 3 times (full clip) then get blade sharpened again very worth while

don't clip yourself!!! clip the horse!! (silly!) he he!

I've got liveryman clippers and will happily do 4 clips, sometimes stretch to 5 or 6 if they're just little clips

just depends on how the blades feel - some horses coats are really greasy - so would probably do no more than 3 if had those sorts of horses...

l clip horses all winter for a living ! well in between doing my own horses ,and find i get about 4 full clips to a set of blades before they need sharpening ,also depends on how dirty ,greasy the horses are .

ive clipped abt 70 horses this winter and have ruined only 4 sets of blades ....they can only realisticaly be resharpened only 4-5 times before theyre knackered ..

l have 3 sets of clippers all liveryman and they are very good, never had any problems
