Surely this would not work!?

I have been told by a few people, that for first few small clips, human head clippers would be fine!?

Surely this would not work on her hugely thick coat?

Don't know about human head clippers but there are a variety of small trimmers available and I have with one very nervous horse ended up clipping him all over with them! It was quite lenghty but it did a nice job.

I will never use the big clippers on their ears and most of their head really as I think the noise and weight is horrible for them. The trick is to find some that are the same tension as your big ones otherwise the horse ends up looking shaved on its head!

Yep they do - my daughter frequently uses my husband's. The only thing she has to remember is to remove all the horse hair before she puts them back :)

For a really thick coat she uses them on a number 4 then reduces to what she wants - she finds the beard trimmer excellent for clipping around the fetlock - it is nice and small for the purpose.

We do have 'proper' clippers but for the odd trim and tidy-up the horse finds the 'human' ones quieter and not so much vibration - though I suppose it depends on which clippers you have.

i bought some small clippers only cost £20 and lasted me 3 years i did both my dogs and horses with them mine and others always use them on legs with extension on and chin as mine is cob x so has that hairy chin and legs and clip his head with them 2 and clipped a friends horse whole front end with them they were fab just bought som battery ones now so can either go off mains or battery they are so handy and quiet a must for every grooming kit i recon
