Hi

Im going to attempt to clip my 3 dogs this week, I have never clipped a dog right back (only trimmed ears etc) but I have clipped lots of horses...are dogs alot different?

Am I correct in saying you always go with the grain of the hair?

Any tips & advise appriciated!

Thank You..

My tips

Wash and dry (or allow to dry) completely and thoroughly first.
Use a 3mm blade at shortest or risk sunburn/damage to follicles
Go with the grain
To get a neat finish, back brush the hair so it sticks up and keep clipping over and over til you get it smooth
Try to follow the growth of the hair as much as possible or you'll end up clipper marks
If you dog is itching like mad after, wash (or at least rinse) off again after. But I don't find this is neccessary most of the time.
Use small detail scissors to tidy up loose bits (ie if you're shaving hair off the ears, never use the clippers on the edges, but very very carefully scissor the untidy bits off)

Good luck! :D
