Can anyone recommend me some cordless clippers please? I want ones that are quiet for a youngsters first clip.
I moved to our own patch as opposed to livery in the spring and we have no electric- I anly have corded clippers!
They will need to cope with 3 horses, one being a biggy and fairly cheap (or with a recommendation i will know what to look out for on Ebay)

Thanks

The Lister clippers,Liberty they are now called, are brilliant, mine run off of a car battery, you can get a pack that is rechargeable also.I have had my set for years ,I clip about 20 plus each year they are reliable and do not get too hot, they will do the job for you really well.

I used to clip using a power invertor plugged into the cigarette socket in my car, hust plugged the clippers into the invertor (normal 3 pin plug). It worked fine.
You can get them on Ebay and I have Lister stablemate clippers.

you would be better to get a car battery jump start pack, its basicallly a battery you charge up in the house and use to jump start your car, i use one, im on a yard with electricity but it means i can move about more freely rather than worrying how much room i have left its amazing to use lasts about four hours being used constantly could probably last more but ive never used it longer than that

Sorry to go slightly off tangent, but are the Lister Liberty one's good for trad cobs? Are they reasonably quiet (DWB doesn't yet 'do' being clipped )? And finally :D, are they reasonably lightweight?

I started off using my electric clippers and a generator but it was a major effort to clip that way carting generator, petrol etc to the yard.

In the end I bought some Wahl Avalon clippers, nice and quiet, lightweight, run off a battery pack which attaches to your belt have managed to clip my hairy old greasy boy pony numerous times inc all off, legs etc. Makes life so much easier and if the day after clipping I see a bit I have missed I can just whip out the clippers and get rid of it!

I have used mine for cobs inc. the heavy feathers using a medium or coarse blade, they are quieter than electric ones but I dont think much different in weight. They are also safer as no electric current if they tread on the lead.

I use Lister Liberty clippers, they will do 2 horses on one charge. They are lightweight & fairly quiet, can even do ears with them. I use coarser blades for the Mini Shetland in the spring, no problems at all.

I've got some Heininger Handy clippers with 2 battery packs.

They are really great and the 2 packs are enough to do a full clip on my boy, or a reclip on both him and the pony.

We actually have electric now, but I like being cordless as I don't have to worry about the cable. It also means I can clip continuously with one battery on charge and the other in use.
